this is due to switching of malayalam fonts

so to test, you need to also do download and install AnjaliOldLipi
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/varamozhi/AnjaliOldLipi-0.730.ttf?use_mirror=kent

then go to tools option change all malayalam unicode font to AnjaliOldLipi
from default MS provided Kartika (um... actually should be Karthika)

in test you see "adhithiyan" in Karthika font (a new f***kedup lipi font)
and rest others in AnjaliOldLipi font (actual malayalam)

render correctly if you set font as Kartika

but if you set to AnjaliOldLipi for some it uses Kartika

But reading Malayalam with Kartika is very difficult, 
we need Old Lipi support for easy reading.

Same underlying issue as bug 361778, and fixed by the patch there.
