When you start Firefox and addon updates are available, you get an update window first before the browser opens. When you hit update, it downloads the updates as expected. However on OSX it does not install them but only marks them pending upon browser restart. So you have to close the now opening browser again an restart it in order to get your extensions actually updated. On Windows however the updates are installed and activated before the first browser window even opens. Asking for updates at the very beginning is useless if they are not directly activated. Therefore the OSX behavior should be the same as it is on Windows.

Is this still a problem? I believe this is fixed on trunk now
