Check for new articles at startup doesn't work for RSS feeds (in either 1.5.0.* or 2.0 beta 1, on Linux). This is easiest to see when using a feed that is behind HTTP authentication.

Steps to reproduce:
 1. Start Thunderbird with a clean profile
 2. create an "RSS News & Blogs" account
 3. right click on the account in the folder pane, click "Properties", and change "100" to "1" in the check-for-new-messages-every-N-minutes part
 4. right click on the account in the folder pane, click subscribe, click add, and add a feed that's behind HTTP auth. (For the Mozilla employees who might look at this, we have a bunch of such feeds.) Enter the username and password so the articles download, but do NOT save the password.
 5. exit thunderbird
 6. restart thunderbird

Expected results: HTTP auth password dialog comes up immediately when Thunderbird tries to check for new articles

Actual results: HTTP auth password dialog comes up after one minute, since we're checking for new articles every N minutes, but not doing so at startup.
This works for me using an RSS feed that doesn't request HTTP Auth. using version 2.0.0.0 (20070326) on Windows XP. So I guess this is either Linux only or might only occur when using a feed that requires HTTP Authentication? (I'm going to add a testcase for this in Litmus, since we don't have one for it.)
So it actually worked for me once I set up an email account in Thunderbird. Maybe the problem is that it doesn't work if there are no email accounts set up?
