364983 - bookmarks get lost every time firefox is restarted

the default profile does not save any bookmarks. i may add a new bookmark, but after restarting firefox, only the default bookmarks appear. also, every time i start firefox 1-10 files called bookmarks-XX are created where XX stands for a increasing number, starting at 1.
the problem can be resolved by creating a new user profile and deleting the default profile. most users probably don't even know how to open the profile manager, though.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. start firefox with default profile
2. add a new bookmark
3. close and reopen firefox. 
Actual Results:  
the new bookmark is gone.

Expected Results:  
the new bookmark still exists.
