36579 - ftp does not allow you to continue to browse while downloading

If you go to an ftp site in Mozilla (I'm using Build ID: 2000042008), for
example ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/nightly/latest/ and choose to download
a file (say mozilla-win32.zip), you can not continue to browse the ftp site
while the file is downloading.  Try clicking on the 'linux-latest' directory in
the URL above while a file is downloading -- the arrow starts spinning, but the
directory contents are never displayed.

If this is intentional (which I doubt), there should be some feedback to the
user to indicate that they must wait for the download to complete before being
able to resume browsing the ftp site.

Apologies if this is the wrong component (Networking seemed to be the closest fit).

Confirmed. It looks as though it's trying to start a second FTP connection 
during the download but it didn't succeed (I waited 8 minutes then gave up). 
This looks like a bug rather than an intentional limitation, though some FTP 
server admins might not like more than one connection per IP address.

Negative - this appears to only be a FTP problem. I can repro this on 
ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/nightly/latest/ (via FTP) but not on 
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/nightly/latest/ (same but via HTTP).

Sounds like Bill Law already has a fix for this and checking it in which is great.

But just in case he doesn't, I think at this point we could ship beta2 without
this.  So I'm removing nsbeta2+ from the status and recommending that we give it
a minus.  cc'ing Don who will probably minus it tomorrow if the fix isn't
already in.
