Tracking bug for shipping Kurdish Firefox 2.
We have Kurdish in beta since 2.0.0.1, and found bug 369367.
One bug I missed to file is to localize bookmarks.html, that's the plain en-US bookmarks, that should be fixed still.
We should still try to get 2.0.0.2, though, I think. Gonna file the bookmarks bug right away.
Search and rss are trivial, en-US is fine there.

Now that the installer is also fixed, what is missing for Kurdish (ku) to become an officially shipped locale?

Running through some litmus tests would be good, it seems we don't have any test reports there.
And some general feedback on the testing process would be good, too, like, do you know how many people use the kurdish 2.0.0.2/3 beta builds on a daily basis?

I have installed it for a lot of people and we are getting a lot of praise, but we have no actual test reports. I have called on the community now to send test reports to our mailinglists.

We got some feedback on the mailinglist. According to the testers, there are no showstoppers.
The only major annoyance for some people is the fact that for the default Google search the default language is Kurdish (ku). Google uses the arabic alphabet, which males the search interface unusable for a lot of people. However, we are reluctant to change this, because any other language as default would not be better.
So from our point of view, ku is ready to go out of beta.

There were some litmus tests done on May 15th:
http://litmus.mozilla.org/search_results.cgi?order_by_created=&order_by_testcase_id=&order_by_product=&order_by_platform=&order_by_branch=&order_by_locale=×pan=&summary=&product=&platform=&branch=&locale=ku&limit=15
ashuges reported a change of the search bar command key from F to G, and Tomcat marked the sidebar test as failed.

These have been fixed meanwhile. They were Bug 380799 and Bug 380793. If there are no new failures, this can be closed.

Fine, does that mean that the Kurdish translation moves out of beta now?

Sorry, I was confused when I closed this.
Can we get some up-to-date litmus test runs? I'm in particular interested http://litmus.mozilla.org/run_tests.cgi?test_run_id=16, and I'd like to know which platforms you have testers on.
Note, the test run 16 is in development, so any feedback on how useful that is is appreciated.
Sorry for the confusion, I'll work offline to come up with something better for the future.
The good news is, un-beta-ing is really just a change on the website, so that's not bound to the code freeze deadlines already.

I've run a complete 14-steps test at https://litmus.mozilla.org/
There were failures concerning the localized start page and talkback:
https://litmus.mozilla.org/single_result.cgi?id=89908
https://litmus.mozilla.org/single_result.cgi?id=89897
We have localized the start pages, but you did not put it online. Is talkback something specific for Windows? I haven't seen it at Linux.
Let's get ku out of Beta finally!

ku is still in beta, what are we waiting for? It is really annoying to have to ask every now and then why there is no progress.
ku has been in beta since 2.0.0.1 at least, and we are really getting frustrated.

Erdal
your language is now listed on getfirefox all languages page: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html#beta_versions
so it is getting more user exposure :) i hope that helps some of the frustration
i'll ping axel to put back on his radar
best

spoke with Axel - this is on his radar already and apparently, he responded on newsgroup
adding Kev who handles Google interaction for us, to ask if he can post progress on feedback from google on ku vs ku-Latn
thanks

While I hope with Axel that we can resolve the Google problem positively, I don't think this should be a reason to leave ku in beta indefinitely. Our proposal was to ship with the original Google locale en-US. Unfortunately noone commented on that proposal.

That's technically not feasible, sadly. There are some wonky things going on on google's side these days in terms of language selection, which regress everybody but Kurdish, Kev is on it.
This does affect Fx3 betas, too. As much as I'd like to expose those builds, I don't want to paint us in a corner with the language code, so we need to move here with some caution. I hope Kev's list for google is short enough to get this on it soon.

If there is no quick solution, please either leave the locale ku, or move it back to en-US. But no decision is much worse than a decision that we can correct later.

Ok, it seems that the choice of the locale code won't impact whatever google's doing. We don't fully understand the latter yet, but it seems pretty clear that the locale code doesn't impact it.
Sorry that this discussion took so long, this just happened to be the worst timing, with various moving targets flying around.
We should de-beta Kurdish as is, ASAP. I need to figure out what ASAP really is, though. Probably .13.
