User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; de; rv:1.8.1.1) Gecko/20061217 SUSE/2.0.0.1-25.1 Firefox/2.0.0.1 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; de; rv:1.8.1.1) Gecko/20061217 SUSE/2.0.0.1-25.1 Firefox/2.0.0.1 If Firefox is reopened after an unwanted termination all tabs of previously opened pages appear again as they should. However if you go to a specific tab the address bar is empty. All the tabs keep being in reload state forever although there is nothing wrong with the internet connection. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. power outage, kill or crash of firefox 2. reopen firefox Actual Results: * tabs do not reload * no address displayed in address bar Expected Results: All previously opened pages should still be in the cache and appear immediately upon restart. The address bar should show the page to be loaded even if it is not available any more. This should work in offline mode as well. Why should it also work in offline mode? Just think of a power outage and a laptop being rebooted on behalf of battery power supply. It will not be able to connect to the Internet. In spite of this the restored session contents must not be lost.

This has recently been fixed (though not noted here - please update the bug status) except in case of an offline restart. In certain cases there can still emerge problems: If there is no connection to the internet on session restoration the address bars of all tabs stay empty and remain in loading state forever. If a connection to the internet is reestablished things remain the way they are. Even a kill followed by an online restart does not improve things (still all address bars empty). On session restoration * the address bar should always show the URL to be loaded, even if the domain name can not be resolved * if no connection can be established the browser should automatically switch to offline mode * as soon as the user switches to online mode all tab panes that could not be loaded so far should be given a further attempt to be loaded

The remaining issue is bug 439675 (we should correctly switch to offline mode in Firefox 3.0). Duping...
