User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; de; rv:1.8.1.1) Gecko/20061204 Firefox/2.0.0.1
Build Identifier: Thunderbird - Version 2 beta 2 (20070116)
Although the From-Header includes all necessary Details, in the Main Window the Sender column only contains the e-mail adress instead of the Sender Name.
This is a problem that only happens with AOL IMAP and Thunderbird in COMBINATION. My other IMAP accounts in thunderbird work fine. On the other hand my AOL IMAP account with Opera IMAP and Outlook Express IMAP doesn't have this problem.
Check this thread for more details and things users already tested:
http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?p=2752823#2752823
and this image which demonstrates the Problem.

This is NOT a Thunderbird 2.0 bug only. I actually use 1.5 (where i recognized the problem) and only downloaded the new beta to see if it was already fixed in the new version.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
use an AOL IMAP account with Thunderbird
Actual Results:
sender column displays e-mail adress only
Expected Results:
sender column should display sender-name in the From-header

I believe that this BUG is related to BUG 331425
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=331425
So if somebody tries to fix it looking at the other one might be a good idea to resolve both at the same time.
Thanx alot!

I can confirm this in 1.5 and 2.0b2 on Linux. I'd guess it's a server problem, but at least one other IMAP client (Evolution) shows the sender name from the From: header properly.

Confirming based on multiple reports, but I don't have an AOL account to test with. If a reporter could test whether Seamonkey behaves the same, that would be useful.

i just tried seamonkey, it has the exact same problem. if you need any test-reports let me know what to do for you.
aol imap accounts are free. so if you want, i can set one up for test purposes and mail you the login details.

I don't need the account. If someone starts to work on this, they may take you up on that.
