Hi,
I have been using both ie7 and firefox 2. During browsing it is usual to have tabs to stop responding in both of them. In ie7, this is limited only the problematic tab, while other tabs in the window continue to function properly. However, same is not true for firefox. Each problematic tab, makes the whole browser window along with all the tabs within it to stop responding. The only option in such a case is to close all the tabs. Lots of work pain-stakingly done is lost.
While in ie7, the loss of work is limited to problematic tab.
Given that mozilla consume more cpu resource than other browsers, I would expect each tab to act have an independent existence. But that does not seems to be true.
Regards,
Himanshu
Reproducible: Sometimes
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open couple of sites in tabs under the same window
2.Try to open known problematic sites from your reported bugs database, which often makes firefox to stop responding
3.Try this under various PC configuration, and performance states to reproduce the issue.
Actual Results:
Let us assume the problematic site brings down the tab in which it is opened. Under such a scenario in most of the cases, other tabs would also stop responding.
Expected Results:
Each tab in firefox, should work independently of other tabs. Performance issue in one should not impact the other tabs. Users might be working on very sensitive or critical things.
It is very important that this bug is fixed to have firefox to be preferried, while working on important items and data under the tabbed mode.
