Details
About:blank should include javascript to check whether it's the top frame (not
framed or iframed), and then set focus to the location bar.
Alternatively, the location bar could be selected on startup if "display blank
page on startup" is selected.

REMIND is deprecated, reopening and setting to Future.
It would seem to make most sense just to give the location field focus in any new
browser window, no matter whether it contains about:blank or anything else.

Several people have complained that always giving focus to the location bar
would block keyboard scrolling. See bug 37638 for one example.
This RFE would probably be implemented in JS in the UI code, not in the core
event system. Changing component and reassigning.
IMO, this seems like a reasonable thing to do, for about:blank only.

Please, please make new blank windows have the focus on the location bar.
On my version, (Mac OS 9, Mozilla 9.3), it gives two tempting flashes of the
insertion bar caret and then disappears. I'm used to opening a new window and
starting to type a location, I hate to have to click to make it happen.

Marking this WONTFIX because
1) location bar *has* focus after loading about:blank into a new window
2) it seems not possible (without major changes) for about:blank itself to set
focus to the location bar.
Note that sidebar steals focus from the location bar after loading about:blank,
even if it's collapsed (bug 76621).

I have addressed this by choosing not to view the search sidebar, so can live
with it. I'm sure very few other people open as many new windows as I do!

I think this should be WONTFIXED, and smarter new window focus behaviour
implemented.
