Crash Data

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.8.1.3) Gecko/20070309 Firefox/2.0.0.3 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.8.1.3) Gecko/20070309 Firefox/2.0.0.3 When above page is loaded Firefox immediately crashes after it renders. It also crashes if opened in new tab (which remains hidden). This was tested in lastest Minefield build (downloaded/built today) and had very similar results. In minefield's case there was a long delay before the crash and the console showed Flip4Mac plugin being loaded. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Open http://www.shacknews.com/ja.zz?person=My%20Documents Actual Results: Crashes Browser. Expected Results: Page loading. This is a MacBook Pro (Core2Duo).
I tried accessing the same site (using same FFox User-Agent). Machine is an Intel Mac Pro. The page loads fine without the plugin, or with noscript blocking content from orangemile.com (the wma file is http://mydocuments.orangemile.com/mymusic/chariot.wma). With flip4mac installed and content unblocked, it falls over: Date/Time: 2007-04-10 19:16:11.415 +0100 OS Version: 10.4.9 (Build 8P2137) Report Version: 4 Command: firefox-bin Path: /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin Parent: launchd [1] Version: 2.0.0.3 (2.0.0.3) PID: 421 Thread: 0 Exception: EXC_ARITHMETIC (0x0003) Codes: EXC_I386_DIV (divide by zero) Thread 0 Crashed: 0 net.telestream.wmv.plugin 0x16a446af OpenMovieInPlugin + 715 1 net.telestream.wmv.plugin 0x16a46202 NPP_NewStream + 210 2 org.mozilla.firefox 0x00737313 ns4xPluginStreamListener::OnStartBinding(nsIPluginStreamInfo*) + 239 3 org.mozilla.firefox 0x001f4d48 nsPluginStreamListenerPeer::SetUpStreamListener(nsIRequest*, nsIURI*) + 460 4 org.mozilla.firefox 0x001f54a7 The file plays ok if the URL is opened directly in Quicktime.
Yeah, this looks like a Flip4Mac problem, but I'd be curious to hear what they think. Does this happen with a fresh profile? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_Manager

Seems to do it with a fresh profile as well.
I have repro'd the crash on the nightly trunk: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.9a7pre) Gecko/2007071104 Minefield/3.0a7pre STR: 1. go to www.ig.com on a mac book pro, osx 10.4.10, clean profile. 2. scroll down to video section 3. click play, and verify minefield crashes. breakpad stack trace at: http://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/8351da26-2fe5-11dc-a5d0-001a4bd46e84?date=2007-07-11-19 0 Flip4Mac WMV Plugin@0x16af 1 Flip4Mac WMV Plugin@0x3201 2 ns4xPluginStreamListener::OnStartBinding(nsIPluginStreamInfo*) 3 nsPluginStreamListenerPeer::SetUpStreamListener(nsIRequest*, nsIURI*) 4 nsPluginStreamListenerPeer::OnStartRequest(nsIRequest*, nsISupports*) 5 nsObjectLoadingContent::OnStartRequest(nsIRequest*, nsISupports*) 6 nsHttpChannel::CallOnStartRequest() 7 nsHttpChannel::ProcessNormal() 8 nsInputStreamPump::OnStateStart() 9 nsInputStreamPump::OnInputStreamReady(nsIAsyncInputStream*)

Sounds like a plugin bug, not a blocker. If someone can show that it is a browser problem, please renominate.

Should be fixed on trunk in tomorrows build. (comment 1 is probably a different crash since it's on branch)
Mats in comment #8 > Should be fixed on trunk in tomorrows build. > (comment 1 is probably a different crash since it's on branch) can this then be closed?

In comment 8, I was referring to the fix for bug 426524, in case that wasn't clear. I said "should" since I have never owned a PPC Mac and couldn't verify. It would be good if someone could do a quick test loading the URL in Firefox 3.0.x with Flip4Mac installed.

Closing old bugs in the Plugins component. We aren't going to track issues in 3rd-party plugins in the Mozilla bug tracker. In addition, support for NPAPI plugins will be removed at the end of this year; for more details see the post at https://blog.mozilla.org/futurereleases/2015/10/08/npapi-plugins-in-firefox/ If there is a serious bug in Firefox, it needs to be filed in the "Core" product, "Plug-Ins" component.
