i had to format my harddrive and reinstall windows. this cost me AU$160.00. I lost a lot of important information which cannot be recovered.

Sorry to hear that, but it's really not our fault. It's your virus detection
software that made a false alarm.
Apparently already fixed by AVG, see bug 373469 comment 6.
