User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.3) Gecko/20070309 Firefox/2.0.0.3 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.3) Gecko/20070309 Firefox/2.0.0.3 I configure Firefox to force all "new window" calls to a new tab- this works fine... [browser.link.open_newwindow set to 3, browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction set to 0], however when I click a javascript new window link- available from the supplied URL, any of the bold text links at the bottom left of the page- I notice it will open a new tab correctly 1 time, and in all subsequent links of the same type, it will instead open in that first new tab, not creating new tabs for each link as Firefox 1.5 did (and still does, I reinstalled it after noticing this problem). I have found no information about why online, though I have found evidence others are experiencing this problem. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Set your browser.link.open_newwindow setting to 3, and browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction to 0. 2. Go to the supplied URL. 3. Click a bold text link to open a new tab. 4. Click another link and it will open in the previous tab. Actual Results: The second (and any subsequent) links will all reuse the single new tab. Expected Results: It should open each link in its own new tab. No other relevant information. I apologize if this report is flawed in any way; it is the first time I have had to file one. I hope this issue is resolved, as it seriously hampers the functionality I was used to. Thanks.
If you configure it to open them in new windows, does it reuse the windows as well?
Sites can specify that they want to reuse windows by using the same name in the second parameter to window.open(), btw.
Yes, it will reuse the same window in that case- and while the site could have changed to specify using the same window, I don't think the site referenced does so (though I'm not sure), because Firefox 1.5 still opens the links in new tabs/windows.
I experience the same problem. I have to right click on the url to open it in a new window
(In reply to comment #4) > I experience the same problem. I have to right click on the url to open it in a > new window > Just a note- the right click option is not possible for me, though maybe it's something with my configuration. At the listed URL, I can't open the links in a new tab, the option is not available when I right click, likely due to the fact that it's javascript? No one is currently assigned, and while it may seem trivial, it is very inconvenient for me, and is preventing me from using the current version. As it stands I install the update, check to see if this has been fixed, and then revert back to 1.5. Anyway, just a quick update that it is not resolved in 2.0.0.5 and to comment on the last post.
Well I bypassed the javascript with...... I don't really remember, but I think it's in the Firefox tools options Javascript advanced. and uncheck everything except the first one. Yes, I noticed that the version 2.0.0.5 didn't fixed this problem. By using IE, I didn't experience this problem. Just too bad I have to switch to IE for this reason.
