Bug 357637 hit a snag because the pango version on the machine is much too old. Can we get it updated to whatever the version in our reference platform is going to be?
This could well be the reason for bug 379600.

The current state of affairs is that RHEL4/CentOS4 is our target runtime and build-time platform. mconnor/caillon are working on a proposal to update the runtime reqs, but in the meantime the code should be designed to work with older pangos.

We cannot release the builds which is enabled the embolden.
