Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install build 20070509h02 2. Notice all bookmarks are missing 3. Importing bookmarks from backup results in folders becoming 'spacers' and no bookmarks are imported. Actual Results: Bookmarks vanish and cannot be restored Expected Results: No lost bookmarks I'm using Vista HP I tried safe-mode and a new profile, and bookmarks won't import properly, and folders are turning into 'spacers' I went back to 0507 build and still could not restore my bookmarks, even with a new profile. I nuked the profile path completely and started fresh..without any success in using 'Import' or a hard copy/paste of the bookmarksbackup file. Folders seemed to become 'spacers', and one of the folder became an RSS Icon, with the bookmarks appearing there... strange!

From reading https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=379986#c10 appears this may have broken Import, and folders.
import from non-places build work well
littlemutt / onemen.one, are you still able to reproduce this with a recent build?

Ever confirmed: true
Is this still an issue in current trunk build?
Sorry so late in following this up, lost track. Importing with recent builds no longer creates the original issue of folders becoming spacers. I have seen 1 occurance of a folder becoming an RSS Icon, but I may have grabbed an already broken backup. Weith a clean export and re-import I was not able to repo the folder issue where it becomes an RSS Icon. The thing I note is that the Bookmark Toolbar is not populated, but rather another Bookmarks Toolbar folder comes with the import, but is not 'active' in that the bookmarks on the Toolbar are visible where one would expect them to be displayed, below the navbar. You can manually move the bookmarks onto the 'default' Bookmarks Toolbar - but I suspect an end-user trying to import would/could be confused that the import failed when the Toolbar was not populated. I can understand not overwriting other folders, but an import into a 'clean' profile should IMO 'overwrite' the 'default' Toolbar. Appears that maybe this bug https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=351749 speaks to the same idea. reporter could not reproduce, and no further reports of this in many months (almost a year?) -> WFM. yes, lets use bug 351749 for toolbar issue in comment #5

Bug 451915 - move Firefox/Places bugs to Firefox/Bookmarks and History. Remove all bugspam from this move by filtering for the string "places-to-b-and-h". In Thunderbird 3.0b, you do that as follows: Tools | Message Filters Make sure the correct account is selected. Click "New" Conditions: Body contains places-to-b-and-h Change the action to "Delete Message". Select "Manually Run" from the dropdown at the top. Click OK. Select the filter in the list, make sure "Inbox" is selected at the bottom, and click "Run Now". This should delete all the bugspam. You can then delete the filter. Gerv
