User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.4) Gecko/20070515 Firefox/2.0.0.4 Build Identifier: version 2.0.0.0 (20070326) As far as I know, if a message was assigned a label in Thunderbird < 2.0, this was stored in X-Mozilla-Status2. TB2.0 recognizes this information and converts the label to the corresponding tag (for displaying the message). When removing the tag, TB does not update the X-Mozilla-Status2 entry and thereby the label is still present in the source of the message while no longer being displayed (due to the entry in the corresponding *.msf file). If you now delete the "*.msf" file of the mail folder where this message is stored and it is re-generated upon the next start of TB, the message will still have the label assigned (X-Mozilla-Status2) and this will be shown again. --> Every time the *.msf file is re-generated, one has to remove the tags from all messages that previously were assigned labels in TB < 2.0. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Take a message that was assigned a label with TB < 2.0 2. Remove the label with TB2.0 3. Close TB 4. Delete "*.msf" file corresponding to mail folder containing the above message 5. Start TB 5. Look at the previous mail Actual Results: E-mail message is shown with a tag corresponding to the label assigned previously with TB < 2.0. Expected Results: E-Mail message should not have a label or tag assigned.

Can confirm on Linux with TB 3.1.9 and 3.3a3. Updating component, it is a problem with the mailstore (not migrating from other client).
