I guess this is a regression from bug 368247.

Maybe you have too small screens? This makes the horizontal rule appr. 1440 pixels wide, which shows the bug for me even with smaller windows.
Yeah, that one definitely shows it for me.

With the noshade attribute, a similar effect can be seen for smaller widths, see testcase.

This is now worksforme, using:

I guess the cairo upgrade has fixed it.
