User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.8.1.4) Gecko/20070515 Firefox/2.0.0.4
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.8.1.4) Gecko/20070515 Firefox/2.0.0.4

Ctrl+F normally focusses the "Find" bar at the bottom of the screen. However when viewing an image (as opposed to a text/html) Ctrl+F does nothing.

This was probably "by design" but it prevents a useful bit of keyboard navigation - namely, the sequence "Ctrl+F, Esc" to close the find bar.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Navigate to http://www.starkov.name/s/viewimage/ExpSok/ExpSok1.png?back=ExpSok/Expert_Sokoban&frame=0&scrshot=1
2. Press Ctrl+F to show the Find bar
3. Click the "View image only" link in the bottom right corner of the page
4. Press Ctrl+F again.

Actual Results:
The Find bar remains unfocussed

Expected Results:
The Find bar should get focussed so that I can press "Esc" to close it.

If one wants to keep Ctrl+F disabled when showing an image then a possible solution is to hide the bar completely in image mode.
Confirmed. Workaround : use tab to focus on the find-bar, then esc.

It's logical the Ctrl-F doesn't work when displaying an image, but there are other solutions like display a gray toolbar or beeping. And the toolbar might need to be hiddn, as this bug explains.
Note that the quick-find toolbar (press '/') still opens in this case ('/ + esc" is therefor also a workaround), but that should also be a bug.

Confirming. (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.8.1.4)

In general, I think the Find Toolbar should always disappear whenever a new page is loaded in the current tab (whether 'tis be an image or a webpage), and whenever the user switches tabs. Otherwise the fact that it stays around uselessly is quite irritating.
Oops, sorry, my build identifier is actually:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.8.1.4) Gecko/20070515 Firefox/2.0.0.4
Summary: Ctrl+F does nothing when viewing an image → Ctrl+F does nothing when viewing an image (even if the find bar is already open)
Looks like fixed here

Must have been fixed at some point. Thanks!
