Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8.1.4) Gecko/20070509 SeaMonkey/1.1.2
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8.1.4) Gecko/20070509 SeaMonkey/1.1.2
When using multiple POP email accounts, the email client does not automatically check the last account in the list for new messages. Also, the Get Msgs button -> Get All New Messages does not check for new mail in the last account. You must explicitly select the account from Get Msgs button to retrieve new mail.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Define two POP email accounts.
2. Send mail to both accounts.
3. Note that only the first account automatically detects the new mail after 2 minutes.
4. Note that pressing the Get Msgs button, or selecting Get All New Messages from the Get Msgs button, does not retrieve the new mail on the second POP account.
5. Use the Get Msgs button and select the second account to retrieve the new message.
Actual Results:
New mail for only the first account is automatically retrieved. The Get Msgs button using Get All New Messages does not retrieve the new mail for the second account.
Expected Results:
The email client should automatically detect new mail for both accounts after two minutes. The get Msgs button -> Get All New Messages should retrieve new mail for both accounts.

Do you use Global Inbox? See Account Settings/Server Setting Advanced.
If "Global Inbox", what is your choice of "Include this server when getting new mail"?

No, both POP accounts are set to use "Inbox for this server's account".

Multiple accounts on single POP3 server?
See Bug 373451 Comment #33 and followings.

No, each POP account is to a different server.

Accounts for "Get All New Messages" starts from "Local Folders"(account1), then last account is missed?
Can you test next case to see whether your "last POP mail account" is key factor or not?
- Add a dummy POP3 account(no Global Inbox use),
then "Get All New Messages" when mail exist.

I added a dummy POP mail account and the second account still did not get its mail when I clicked the Get Msgs button. And it did not get the mail for the second account automatically after 2 minutes. I had to specifically get messages for the second account.
The order shown on the left for the accounts is:
Real Account #1
Real Account #2
Dummy Account
Local Folders

"Get Msgs" button instead of "Get All New Messages" in expanded "Get Msgs"?
If so, this is current design of "Get Msgs".
(There is enhancement request for customizable behavior of "Get Msgs")
> And it did not get the mail for the second account automatically after 2 minutes.
Is "Check for new message for every NN minutes" set correctly for second one?
This is enabled as default for first defined one(default account, top one).
But not enabled as default when second or later account.
(Change of this behavior is already requested)

I tried Get Msgs -> Get All New Messages and the new mail was not retrieved for the second account. I had to select the specific account to get the new mail.
Yes, all three accounts have "Check for new messages every 2 minutes" checked.

Is "Real Account #2" a movemail account? See Bug 278383.

I don't know. How do I know if a POP account is also a movemail account?

http://www.mozilla.org/mailnews/movemail/index.html
and
http://seamonkey.ilias.ca/mailnewsfaq/Movemail
however, http://kb.mozillazine.org/Thunderbird_2.0_installation_issues states
"Movemail support has been removed for OSX. The assumption appears to be that if you could configure a movemail account you can create a movemail.rdf file. See this article on ISP hooks."
Is kb incorrect?

A Movemail account is not a POP account, it is an account used for "Unix internal mail" as generated by (e.g.) cron and accumulating (typically) in /var/mail/<username> or /var/spool/mail/<username>
SeaMonkey 1.1.x is not supported anymore. Dick, do you see this in some version (and which one) of SeaMonkey 2.x ?

Sorry, but I am no longer using SeaMonkey. I have moved to Thunderbird 3.

Closing as INCOMPLETE. But if you don't see the problem in Thunderbird 3 then it is likely that the problem is also gone in SeaMonkey 2.0 as we share the same backend mail code.
