User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.4) Gecko/20070515 Firefox/2.0.0.4
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.4) Gecko/20070515 Firefox/2.0.0.4
The alert that appears in Firefox 2.0 when all downloads have been completed is
attached to the current location of the start menu. In previous versions, the
alert appeared in the lower-right corner of the screen, and this is still the
location if the start menu is on the bottom. However, if the start menu is on
the top of the screen, the alert follows it to the top-right corner. Since this
is a change specifically made for 2.0, I know there must be some way to change
it, but I cannot find anything.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Move Start menu to top of screen or one of the sides
2. Complete a download and allow the "Downloads Complete" alert to popup.
3. Observe changing location of the alert.
Actual Results:
The alert follows the location of the start menu.
Expected Results:
The alert should stay in the bottom-right corner.
Occurs in all tried themes with all tried extension combinations.

I am fairly sure this is the intended behavior. The alert is to appear to come out of the notification (clock) area.

Actually, I assumed that it was the intended behavior. I added this here because someone in a forum suggested that I post it here where the developers were more likely to see it. I was just hoping that someone would be able to give me a way to undo it or work around it to make it always come out of the bottom right.

Bug 341957 changed this behavior. You can control it by setting the ui.alertNotificationOrigin preference in about:config. It has eight values, all documented here: http://mxr.mozilla.org/seamonkey/source/widget/public/nsILookAndFeel.h#213
I'm going to resolve this as INVALID, since this is the expected behavior, and since this was more of a request for information than a bug report.
