I spun this off of bug 384623.
Summary: "Showing [name of bookmarks folder]" doesn't update in real-time
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open the Bookmarks Manager
2. Do a "Properties" on top-level bookmarks folder
3. Change its name/title
4. Click "Save Changes"
At this point, you WILL see, correctly, changes to the tree widget, dynamically reflected.
5. Examine the "Showing [name of bookmarks folder]" heading
Expected Results:
"Showing [name of bookmarks folder]" should also be updated dynamically
Actual Results:
To see your changes reflected, you must close and re-open the Bookmarks Manager
Screenshot, attached

In this screenshot, the added text "DeleteMe" is not dynamically added to the "Showing [name of bookmarks folder]" header, until you close and re-open the Bookmarks Manager.

Bug 451915 - move Firefox/Places bugs to Firefox/Bookmarks and History. Remove all bugspam from this move by filtering for the string "places-to-b-and-h".
In Thunderbird 3.0b, you do that as follows:
Tools | Message Filters
Make sure the correct account is selected. Click "New"
Conditions: Body contains places-to-b-and-h
Change the action to "Delete Message".
Select "Manually Run" from the dropdown at the top.
Click OK.
Select the filter in the list, make sure "Inbox" is selected at the bottom, and click "Run Now". This should delete all the bugspam. You can then delete the filter.
