Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.4) Gecko/20070515 Firefox/2.0.0.4
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.4) Gecko/20070515 Firefox/2.0.0.4
with the update to firefox 2.0.0.4 the search engines stopped working with Cyrillic (no latin?) requests. Yandex.ru or meta.ua for example. When keyword is in Latin they work fine. But when it is in Cyrillic search engine acts like no keyword was typed in.
However, Google search keeps handling it fine.
Suspicion is that it handles well search engines with UTF-8 encoding, but not with win 1251
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.choose Yandex in a search window (go to yandex.ru and add search engine if necessary)
2. type keyword in cyrillic and push search button
3.
Actual Results:
Search engine in the browser windows says 'empty request'
Expected Results:
search results displayed

Are you sure that this works in 2.0.0.3, but not 2.0.0.4? I can't think of anything search related that would have changed between those two releases. It would be helpful if you could find a regression range using the -mozilla1.8 builds at http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/ and/or http://archive.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/nightly/ (slow to load).
Summary: search engins stoped working with cyrillic requests → search engines stoped working with cyrillic requests

I have tried with other machine. Updated Firefox 2.0.0.2 to 2.0.0.4
The bug is not reproduced!
So the problem is not general.
I am not sure where is the difference of two machines.
will look into it to see more details

Ok, found the problem. It is not with the Firefox.
It is the No Script add-on which blocks the search.
