When starting the uninstaller for Mozilla there should be some kind of text what the uninstaller does with profile data. I dont think the uninstaller deletes the profiles, but there should be some kind of text informing the user about this.

Bug 46773 is about the same warning just when installing. Perhaps the text can be reused.

You are correct. The profiles are not removed. Simple text update to inform the user. Not sure if Intl people will got for this for the next release, but I'll mark it P2 for now. Adding Montse to the CC: list.

Frank, what is the 2.x uninstaller doing there? is this fixed there?

Rob, what is our current uninstaller doing there? If this is valid with it and something we'd work on, it probably should move to toolkit. As a SeaMonkey-specific bug, this is probably WONTFIX.
Each app has the choice to mess with the profiles of the user performing the install / uninstall and IMO installers / uninstallers should never touch a user's data. The Firefox installer does not touch profiles and the uninstaller provides an option to remove profiles along with prominent UI about the danger of doing so. btw: this bug is against the xpinstall installer and as far as I know it didn't touch the user's profile. As I see it, this bug is invalid though you could change the SeaMonkey installer to add the suggested text in comment #7.
resolving per comment #15, thanks for the input!
