Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.8.1.4) Gecko/20070515 Firefox/2.0.0.4

Apparently, Firefox is stuck on Acrobat 5.x when downloading .pdf files. The default is 'Preview' but when wanting to change to Acrobat Reader there is the only option to use Acrobat 5.x which is age old AND non-existant on any new Mac. The current version is Acrobat Reader 8.x and there is no facility in the Content File Type Management to "Add" anything. This is even AFTER downloading .pdf files already. Not sure where to go from here.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go to the Firefox menu and select "Preferences"
2. Select the "Content" icon at the top of the Preferences window
3. In the File Types section at the bottom, click the "Manage..." button to the right
4. There is no "Add" button and even after downloading .pdf files already there is no .pdf file type listed in the box.
Actual Results:
Cannot effectively/efficiently manage file types. This used to be a feature available in exquisite detail in the Netscape series of browsers.

Expected Results:
Need an "Add" button and/or after downloading a .pdf file THAT file type needs to be listed in the box.

I've tried this on several different machines running 10.3.9 and 10.4.10 and Firefox 2.0.0.4.

You need to remove the existing mapping. The next time the mime-type is seen, a dialog will pop up, allowing you to add it again with the app of your choice. That is, if it has a proper mime-type. application/octet-stream will ask you every time again.
