http://www.sheridanmedia.com/site/webcam1.html crashes

this is according to Bret Reckard.

Working on getting a stack.
Specific Version:
Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.9a6pre) Gecko/20070626 Minefield/3.0a6pre
Product: Firefox → Core
QA Contact: general → general
Marcia suggested I update to the current nightly and try again. I did, and I still crash.

New Version:
Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.9a7pre) Gecko/2007071304 Minefield/3.0a7pre
Bret, thanks for trying with the latest nightly.

Are you getting the "breakpad" reporter dialog (it looks something like https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/attachment.cgi?id=266108)

It would help to get a stack trace.

No crash for me using Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.9a7pre) Gecko/2007071304 Minefield/3.0a7pre. Brett do you have any extensions installed?
I did receive the breakpad dialog. I submitted the stack trace. I didn't sign up to be notified. WOuld that help?

-bret
Hi Marcia, here are the extensions I have installed.

-bret
Bret, you'll have to tell us the ID of the stacktrace (since we can't search by e-mail currently). See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Breakpad for where to find the ID.
AdBlock is the culprit, I just installed it and I crashed immediately when going to that URL.
There is so much stuff in this stack, I'm really not sure which component this should go in...

2 	ProxyJNIEnv::FindClass(JNIEnv_*, char const*)

Marcia, to be sure: is it Adblock or Adblock Plus? They are different extensions.
Adblock Plus is the extension I have installed.
Wladimir: Yes, I had Adblock Installed as well, latest version.

Bret, thanks for all the info about your extensions.

Can you do about:plugins and tell us what version of Java you've got?
I tried this bug's URL in today's Minefield nightly
(2007-07-13-04-trunk), and had no problems. It also worked fine in
Firefox 2.0.0.4 and Camino 1.5. I'm not running AdBlock, though.

Judging by what you see when you do a search for all bmo bugs that
have "AdBlock" in a comment, both AdBlock and AdBlock Plus have lots
problems. I can't afford to spend the time trying to support such
badly written programs.

For what it's worth, though, you (Bret) might have better luck if you
upgrade your bundled Java Embedding Plugin to the most recent version
(0.9.6.3). See bug 386918 comment #0 for a instructions on how to do
this.
Steven, the reason why Adblock and Adblock Plus cause problems with plugins and especially Java is that they implement a content policy (NoScript and a bunch of other extensions do as well). Gecko currently has lots of problems when plugins hit on content policies written in JavaScript. I will do anything I can to work around these issues in Adblock Plus but so far there wasn't much I could do. As to Adblock, it hasn't been properly maintained for at least a few years, and I cannot help here - that's why I asked which extension was used here.

Wladimir, if (in your work on Adblock Plus) you discover bugs in the
Java Embedding Plugin, please let me know about them. It's probably
best to report them using the Bugs tracker at the JEP's SourceForge
site (http://javaplugin.sourceforge.net/) -- unless problems with
Mozilla.org browsers are also involved.

I will (of course) need instructions on how to reproduce each problem
with publicly available resources. And I'm willing (to a certain
extent) to make changes in the JEP to accomodate Adblock Plus. But
I'm much more likely to be willing (and able) to fix problems if you
can create testcases that demonstrate them without reference to
Adblock Plus. In other words, I'll normally expect your bug reports
to say "here's something wrong with the Java Embedding Plugin", and not
just "the Java Embedding Plugin doesn't get along with Adblock Plus in
such and such circumstances".
Hi Steven, I upgraded my plugins to 0.9.6.3 and I'm running the current nightly.

Version:
Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.9a7pre) Gecko/2007072704 Minefield/3.0a7pre

I'm still running Adblock Plus, and everything seems to be working great! I can once again enjoy video from lovely Sheridan Wyoming! Thanks everyone!

-Bret
Bret, I'm glad to hear it.

Thanks for letting us know.
