User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.8.1.5) Gecko/20070713 Firefox/2.0.0.5 Build Identifier: 2007071603 I think there should be a new Item under the Agenda before the Today item that contains any tasks that are not marked Completed On and have a Due Date set in the past when View is set to All or Tasks. A task with a Due Date implies that it is important and should continue to be listed on the agenda, even if the Due Date has past. Reproducible: Always
OS: Windows Vista → All
Component: Tasks → Lightning Only
This bug has been present since the beginning, and prevents all proper use of Task due dates! Incomplete tasks should never disappear from the today list, until they have been marked completed. The current behavior is very dangerous, as tasks just seem to disappear. The solution would be either to a) keep past tasks in the Today view until completed, or b) create a new category "Overdue" that would appear before the "Today", "Tomorrow", "Soon" catecories, where all incomplete past tasks were be listed. I would even suggest this as a blocking bug, since it prevents using task dues meaningfully and results in missed deadlines, if somebody trusts what the calendar shows! I'd say this bug is the same for SunBird, too, and not just Lightning specific. Easy to test: 1) create a task and set it due at the same time you create it. 2) wait a few moments until the time is past 3) refresh calendar view, and behold, the task has disappeared. Of course it can always be found in the Tasks pane and marked red there, but I never use any other view that the Today pane, and should not need to.
I don't see overdue tasks disappearing from the today pane. Not sure if this is something that should show up on today/tomorrow/soon, since that doesn't really fit in. You could sort by status in the task tree in the today pane. Might be extension fodder. Berend, Christian, what do you say?
My earlier point no longer applies, as the new version 0.8 completely removed tasks from the Today/Tomorrow/Soon list, and they are now displayed separate in the Task pane where they won't disappear. So the bug is corrected although not quite the way I would have liked...
