If you keep sunbird active for extended periods of time, the amount of memory it consumes grows to obscene levels. I've seen it occupying over 350MB on one occasion, in spite of making very limited use of it. (2 calender files, and usually only a few dozen entries items in a given month)

This tends to cause all sorts of problems if you don't remember to stop and restart it with some regularity.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start program
2. wait
3.
Actual Results:
The amount of memory used grows over time regardless of how much or little it's being used.

Expected Results:
It should be releasing memory.
Probably a duplicate of Bug 367456. What type of calendar do you use? Do you have the automatic reload of calendars enabled?
I almost exclusively use the monthly view, and yes, it's automatically reloading calenders... because otherwise it wouldn't be of very much use, really. So it may very well be a repeat of the other one.
