User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.6) Gecko/20070725 Firefox/2.0.0.6 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.6) Gecko/20070725 Firefox/2.0.0.6 After installing 2.0.0.6 RC, the extensions compatibility check kicked off and froze up after completing the check on IE Tab Lite. I had to cancel the check in order to complete launching my browser. Installed extensions include: AdBlockPlus 0.7.5.1 Customize Google 0.60 DOM Inspector 1.8.1.6 FEBE 5.0 ForcastFox 0.9.5.2 IETab 1.3.3.20070528 IE View Lite 1.3 JavaScriptOptions 1.2.4 Master Password Timeout 0.2.5 NoScript 1.1.6.08 Password Exporter 1.0.6 PDF Download 0.8.1 Print/Preview 0.4 TinyURLCreator 1.0.4 TweakNetwork 1.1.1 UITweaker 1.7.0 I will be able to let you know more tomorrow about how Firefox closes out after working with ASP-based web sites (usually crashes upon closing in version before this release). Reproducible: Didn't try Steps to Reproduce: 1. Haven't tried to reproduce as the remainder of the upgrade worked. Relaunching the new version did not kick off another compatibility check. 2. 3. Expected Results: The compatibility check should complete and upon successful run, continue to launch Firefox. The work-around was to just close the frozen window using the Windows close feature.
Can you try checking for updates in the add-ons manager and report back if it completes and if the status message in any of the add-ons displays that the check failed? note: chances are this is a duplicate of bug 308522
Robert, Did as you asked and manually forced update check - no errors, the update check completed successfully. Other than there were no updates, no other status messages displayed related to this.
Specifically, did you look at each add-on individually for the status message and did any of those have a status of failed? I ask because this is not the same as the golbal notification of No Updates Found displayed along the top just below the images for selecting Extension, Themes, etc.
I checked the status message for each add-on - Only "NoScript" had an update available. All other add-ons reported that there were no updates available. Installed the NoScript update, re-ran the update check, each add-on came back stating No Updates Available.
This will be fixed by fixing the general problem of managing the xmlhttprequests when checking for updates in bug 308522
