Build Identifier: 0.5 lighting, TB 1.5.0.12, Win XP sp2
When receiving a calender event from a client today in Thunderbird, Lighting displayed in the message pane of TB a date of December 1970!
The actual date of meeting was set to 1st Aug in the afternoon (I think).
When this meeting was accepted, the notification by Lightning was set to 1999!
Reproducible: Sometimes
Steps to Reproduce:
No idea.
Possible its due to the 1st day of the month.
Actual Results:
Date of meeting I was asked to accept was set to 1970.
We've had calendar meetings from this person before and they were ok.
Here is the raw eml email:

Using Lightning 0.7pre (2007081104) with Thunderbird 2.0.0.7pre (20070811) I get the following error when opening the .eml file created from your comment:
Error: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE) [nsIMsgMessageService.messageURIToMsgHdr]" nsresult: "0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://lightning/content/imip-bar.js :: getMsgImipMethod :: line 212" data: no]
As the result the Accept/Decline buttons are not shown. I don't know if you saw the same error or if the Bugzilla line wrap screwed up the content or if this is a different issue. Next time you could just attach the file instead of posting them as inline comment.
Nevertheless I was able to save the meeting.ics file attached to the email. Importing the file into Lightning showed it at the correct time -> WORKSFORME

Send me a copy of this 0.7pre of Lightening and I'll test it on the original email.
P.S.
I wasn't offered an option of attaching a file to this bug report.
I'll try and add it.

Comment on attachment 276377 [details]
email file with the buggy date
Opening this attachment in Lightning 0.7pre (2007082106) with Thunderbird 2.0.0.7pre (20070821) gives the same results as described in Comment #1.
Opening this attachment in Lightning 0.7pre (2007082106) with Thunderbird 1.5.0.13pre (20070821) gives the following error:
Error: this.startDate has no properties
Source File: file:///<snip>/js/calEvent.js Line: 230
This might cause the 1970 date and is caused by an error in Thunderbird 1.5 (returning the .ics file content still quoted-printable, Bug 351997) that is solved in Thunderbird 2.0.
Could you retest if the issue still exists using Thunderbird 2 instead of 1.5?

Stuart, did it work using a Thunderbird 2 build as requested in Comment #4?

Comment 6•18 years ago

Kind of hard for me to confirm it as I don't have access to that version of Lightning.
I asked in comment #2 to be sent 0.7pre and I never got one.
The email is available for anyone to test in Comment #3.

I don't ask to test a different Lightning version. I'd like you to retest with a Thunderbird 2 build and your Lightning 0.5 build. You can download Thunderbird 2 from <http://www.mozilla.com/thunderbird/all.html>.

I've installed TB 2.0.0.6 and Lightning 0.5 and retested with the above email.
It shows the correct Event Invitation date.
Hooray.
Shame I can't upgrade to V2 of TB until its IMAP bugs get fixed.
Oh hum... :-)
