User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; de; rv:1.8.1.6) Gecko/20070803 Firefox/2.0.0.6
Build Identifier: Version 2.0.0.6 (20070803)
Errorlog entry:
Fehler: uncaught exception: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0xc1f30001 (NS_ERROR_NOT_INITIALIZED) [nsIMsgFilterList.saveToDefaultFile]" nsresult: "0xc1f30001 (NS_ERROR_NOT_INITIALIZED)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://messenger/content/FilterListDialog.js :: onFilterClose :: line 396" data: no]
I have tried several ideas, from recompile to editing the msgFilterRules.dat by hand...
Gentoo Linux 32bit System with gentoo-kernel 2.6.20r8, further information like C-Flags or emerge --info, if needed.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Start Thunderbird
2.Choose one of your emailAccounts (i've got 5)
3.Open the Filterrules dialog enter something
4.Close that window, and if you've opened the errorlog, an error flashes up
5.Close your Thunderbird and every filter rule you've defined is gone
6.With the next startup of TB, you have to define them all again.
Actual Results:
Filter rules gone, they are stored as long as TB runs, but if you close the application your defined rules are gone. Happens with every Account, Rules defined with an earlier version, which are stored in the files, are accepted, but new rules won't be saved.
Expected Results:
Save the rules in the msgFilterRules.dat file.
Well, i use a gentoo linux system, here my emerge --info:

Okay, there IS a solution for this problem, just delete all tmprules* files from your /tmp directory. Thanks to Jan, who mailed me this!

I spent several days on fighting this problem with Thunderbird 2.0.0.6 on opensuse 10.2. This work around saved what remains of my sanity. Some one please work on it !!!

Try a nightly branch build (what will be the next security release): http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/thunderbird/nightly/latest-mozilla1.8/
If you still have a problem with that, file a new bug with details.

I will file a new bug but I should have said in comment #8 that it's the trunk build I'm having the problem with. (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9b3pre) Gecko/2008012803 Thunderbird/3.0a1pre ID:2008012803).
The branch is fine.
