Details

(Whiteboard: DUPEME?)

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.5) Gecko/20070713 Firefox/2.0.0.5 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.5) Gecko/20070713 Firefox/2.0.0.5 I am trying to download FILE.EXEXYZ but to save it as FILE.EXE I already have an existing FILE.EXE When prompted for the file to save to I specify FILE.EXE Firefox warns me that the FILE.EXE exists and do I want to replace it? I say yes. Firefox downloads the file but when I look: FILE.EXE has been deleted not replaced, and FILE.EXEXYZ has been downloaded as FILE.EXE.EXEXYZ I cannot change the "Save As Type" field to elicit any other behaviour. If this is a feature of Firefox rather than a bug, then it shouldn't warn about replacing the existing file if the file will be saved with a different name anyway. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Rename any executable FILE.EXE file as FILE.EXEXYZ 2. Send FILE.EXEXYZ to your gmail account (hence my need to rename the file!) 3. Rename FILE.EXEXYZ back to FILE.EXE 4. Download FILE.EXEXYZ from gmail but specify FILE.EXE as the filename 5. Firefox will warn that FILE.EXE exists, do you want to replace? Say yes 6. FILE.EXE will be deleted but not replaced, and FILE.EXE.EXEXYZ will be there in its place Actual Results: FILE.EXE will be deleted but not replaced, and FILE.EXE.EXEXYZ will be there in its place Expected Results: Downloaded file should be saved as FILE.EXE as specified, not as FILE.EXE.EXEXYZ Downloaded file should be saved as FILE.EXE as specified and warned about by Firefox
This is confirmed on Branch and Trunk probably dupe (or connected) to Bug 270159?
