All U-AD ‘SOFT HYPHEN’ characters appearing in UTF-8 encoded documents are ignored by Firefox when displaying the page.

Note that it must only appear wherever a word containing a soft hyphen could be hyphenated at a line break. U-AD must not displayed where a line.break hyphenation is not appropriate.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Visit any webpage containing a U+AD character in a word that should be broken off as hyphenated.
Actual Results:
The soft hyphen is ignored, causing the entire word to jump down a line.

Expected Results:
The word should be slitted at the U-AD character, a hyphen should be appended to the word at the first line, and the second par of the word should appear on the next line.

I have confirmed that the character lives up to expectation (works as it should) in the following competitive browsers:
Opera 9, Internet Explorer 6 and 7, Safari 2 and 3, Konqueror 3.5, ...

Please note that the U-AD character should be ignored for all other purposes—like searching, copying, etc.—except for hyphenation. It should be visible while editing in any input field; including the search field and locations bar.
You really need to upgrade - we're currently at alpha 7. Bug 9101 was fixed in that release.
