See testcase, when clicking on the dot of the list-item, the text of the list-item gets selected.
However, in current trunk builds, the generated content gets a selected look too.
This regressed between 2007-06-20 and 2007-06-21, I guess a regression from bug 367177.

Another case, where I'm seeing generated content getting selected.
In this case it happens when you triple-click.

FWIW, "Select All" also selects the generated content in these testcases.

WFM, Nightly on Linux64. Can anyone else reproduce the problem?

Yes, the testcases are WFM too.
