Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1.6) Gecko/20061201 Firefox/2.0.0.6 (Ubuntu-feisty)

On linux (I have Ubuntu 7.04), when trying to use a key combination Ctrl+'somthing' with a keyboard layout different from English, for example, Hebrew, it doesn't work. Therefore, for copying, cutting, pasting etc, you need to switch to English layout and then perform the desired action.

This is important to know that this bug doesn't occur on Windows!

Since this bug is very, but very annoying, I suggest you to solve it before the next release (major, minor or whatever).

Regards,
Ofir

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. On linux, open firefox.
2. Load a webpage (in any language).
3. Switch the keyboard layout to a language different then English (Hebrew, for example).
4. Try to Ctrl+C a text from the webpage (the Right click+Copy is working...).
Actual Results:
The selected text wasn't copied.

Expected Results:
Copy the selected text to the clipboard!

This bug occurs whether there are addons installed or not, it doesn't have any connection to the addons but to firefox itself (since in other applications it doesn't occurs, such as, kate, gedit, amarok etc).

As mentioned in bug #69230, comment #124, the purpose of the opening of this bug was to get the 6.5 year-old original solved before the next Firefox version.

Please reopen this bug, or mark the original as blocking. It is a really annoying bug which seems to be neglected because it only disturbs non-english non-windows users.
You need to log in before you can comment on or make changes to this bug.
