Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.6) Gecko/20070725 Firefox/2.0.0.6
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.6) Gecko/20070725 Firefox/2.0.0.6
A high resolution(such as 2000x2000) image will vanish if any attempt to scale it down is made in Firefox. This includes resizing it in HTML or using the Zoom feature if viewing an image directly. Image is visible while loading in a scaled down state, however, it will vanish upon completion or will vanish if scaled up and then back down.
Direct Example:

Embeded Example:
http://blogs.yahoo.co.jp/gemaga1985/19697870.html
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.View a very large image
2.Resize it via HTML or Zoom
Actual Results:
It disappears
Expected Results:
It scales down and remains visible
Works For Me.
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.6) Gecko/20070725 Firefox/2.0.0.6
It remains visible on multiple scale down/up and is visible in the embedded example also.
Please test in a fresh profile. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_manager

Wierd, right after you sent that message, I did just that and it vanished just as in my main profile. However, I test it today and everything is a-ok. Baffling. It's seems to be an occasional occurance, or at least vary in severity, because images as small is in the example case never disappeared for me before.
Perhaps this is a negative reaction with going into hibernation mode with the browser still open? Sometimes there are lots of other wierd glitches in firefox when that happens...

Hi,
I am seeing this bug fairly consistently when using Firefox 3 from CVS. However, I do not see it when using Firefox 2.0.0.5 from Fedora 7.

I am also seeing this behavior in firefox 3 beta 2. I have tested this using in the examples above. The direct link worked OK, the embedded images showed up as black boxes.
I have googled for large images and have reproduced it on lots of direct rescaled images and embedded ones, when viewing images at original size all is OK. on ebay it is really annoying.
I am using linux, the behavior doesn't happen when I test with firefox 2.

I have done more testing on this I downloaded the lastest firefox3 build and still had the same issue.
So I changed the xorg.conf driver from ati to vesa and found that the issue no longer affected firefox. I am using very new xorg and open ati xorg, I don't know if it's an xorg, or xf86-video-ati or firefox issue. Anyone else with more experience help?

No reply, INCOMPLETE. Please reply if you can still reproduce this bug with Firefox 3.5.3 or later in a new profile with the latest plugins (flash, quicktime, java, etc.).
