Details

To reduce the amount of code that is doubled in our codebase and get users off old, unmaintained code, it might be a good idea to make the toolkit FAYT backend usable for consumers of the old typeaheadfind implementation in mozilla/extensions. Those consumers currently include SeaMonkey (see also bug 345526) but also embedded XUL-less Gecko browsers (AFAIK, that could include Camino and the maemo browser), all of which probably want different UI than the XUL find bar for this feature. If we can enable them to hook their custom UI up to the backend we have in toolkit, I guess everyone would be happy.
