Have searched an found many Back/Forward bug report, but non seem to report the following:

I use firefox with tabbed browsing enabled, but i dont believe it is related to tabbed browsing. Occasionally firefox appears to be working correctly, links are followed, pages automatically refresh content, but the navigation toolbar fails to respond. the only way to navigate is through a menu (context or pull-down) until fire fox is restarted. This effects all sites, not some specific urls. It appears to be a focus related bug, though how focus is lost and unable to be regained on an application toolbar i dont know.

It would appear that regardless of a users actions focus is sometimes lost on the applications navigation toolbar. It doesnt require the user to switch away from firefox, wake the machine from sleep, etc. It can occur whilst just browsing a single page/site.

Non of the navigation toolbars functions respond, but unlike some reported bugs, the address bar changes for each tab, though i am unsure if the details of the address bar are correct as i have never paid attention to it when it happens. You cant even use the search box. nothing responds to mouse or keyboard actions.

This is certainly a recurring issue; i have seen it on several occasions, but i cannot reproduce as its trigger is elusive.

Reproducible: Sometimes
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008052906 Firefox/3.0

I will confirm this bug, and it is not fixed as of Firefox 3.0. I cannot seem to find a specific trigger, but I always seem to notice it when I open a new tab (usually via Ctrl-T), and must restart Firefox. I have come across it twice since installing Firefox 3.0 on release day. It did not occur for me in Firefox 2.

Again, I will confirm it is recurring - I am wondering if it is related to specific hardware - this is the only machine it happens on. (Dell Latitude D630)

Reproducible: Sometimes

Without STR or additional confirmations we can't block on this bug. I'm actually a little unclear on the symptoms, as well - the problem is that the navigation toolbar isn't updating or responding, but mouse and keyboard navigation events still work?

The initial report sounds like some of our recurring focus bugs on OSX, but comment 1 indicates that this isn't just on OSX?

Confirming on both XP and Vista - quite an annoying bug. Seems to happen on my Dell XPS 700 but not my HP Pavilion dv7. Glad I'm not the only one with this issue.
When bug happens, page works fine, but toolbar does not respond at all, not even displaying hover animations. Right clicking on the toolbar is the same as right clicking on the page in thoese cases.

Reproducable: Sometimes
I am using Lepord. and Firefox 3.5.2 has this problem on my Mac.

The back, forward, reload and stop buttons are all disabled and the menu options are disabled as well.

Furthermore, upon launching firefox, instead of getting my homepage, it opens an blank page. At least the home button still works. However, any time I choose to open a link in a new window, the same problem occurs, new window with blank page and I have No reload button to click to get it.

But that wouldn't work anyway because every page for every page I go to, the web address does not appear in the URL bar.

I've never had so many problems with Firefox, is it just my computer?
I've already reinstalled, but that didn't help.
Do you have addons installed? Please run Firefox in Safe Mode (http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode) and check if any of those is the culprit.
No response from anyone. If you still have problems feel free to reopen and give us the needed information. Thanks.
