The Language/Font Support appears to be somewhat incorrect for Indian Languages, specifically, I use Marathi Language. The browser displays basic elements i.e. letters properly on the screen, but, the other elements are not displayed properly . The meaning of word or sentence changes drastically many times due to this. I have installed fonts required on my system, and the language is being displayed correctly in other browsers (IE) but not on Firefox. I am a mozilla fan but just because of this issue I have to use IE.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open any Marathi webpage (e.g. http://www.esakal.com/)
2. Open the same in IE (I suppose this testing
3. Get help of a Indian Language Specialist (Marathi one) to describe exact issue
Actual Results:
The language is not displayed as it should be. This is a serious bug in consideration of grammar and aesthetics of the language.

Expected Results:
The page should display in correct language rules and regulations

Is it better on trunk? Our text rendering code has changed a lot, partly in order to support more languages, so it's possible this is already fixed on trunk.
Component: General → Layout: Fonts and Text
Product: Firefox → Core
QA Contact: general → layout.fonts-and-text
Version: unspecified → 1.8 Branch
On 2.0.0.8 the rendering is greatly improved if you go to Control Panel -> Regional and Language Options -> Languages and check the box for 'Install files for complex script and right-to-left languages'. IE (and Firefox trunk) has its own support for complex scripts, but 2.0.0.x uses the system support if it is installed.

This is probably a dupe of bug 212774
Thanks Simon and Jesse for the quick feedback, The issue is resolved by the steps provided for installing language packs. This bug can be closed now.
