While displaying the Wikipedia background image, which is in jpeg format, I get up to about 30 black dots all over the picture, some of them two pixels broad. Dot positions are irregular and can vary. Even when enlarging the picture, some (not many) of the dots move to a different location. When I save the picture, there are no dots in the file. But on a screenshot of course they are there.
This problem is hard to reproduce because, when I load the picture several times, the dots disappear. I haven't noticed this in any other picture than the one the URL points to so far.

Works for me - both in Firefox/2.0.0.8 an in Minefield/3.0a9pre (which uses Cairo). Maybe you need to check if your video driver is up-to-date. I remember an older corrupt-image bug that was caused by the video driver.

I tested this on 2.0.0.11 and 3.1 Beta 2 and didn't see the problem.

This bug was originally reported on Firefox 2.x or older, which is no longer supported and will not be receiving any more updates. I strongly suggest that you update to Firefox 3.6.6 or later, update your plugins (flash, adobe, etc.), and retest in a new profile. If you still see the issue with the updated Firefox, please post here. Otherwise, please close as RESOLVED > WORKSFORME

No reply, INCOMPLETE. Please retest with Firefox 3.6.8 or later and a new profile (http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles). If you continue to see this issue with the newest firefox and a new profile, then please comment on this bug.
