Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.8.1.8) Gecko/20071008 Firefox/2.0.0.8 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.8.1.8) Gecko/20071008 Firefox/2.0.0.8 Just installed mac os-x 10.5 (leopard) default language is english hence all menus etc are in english and when i change to russian input the input field just creates a "?" for each character when i type. Additionally russian page names appear in the menu bar as "?". The actual pages render with russian characters. Have tried removing firefox and re installing. Though I am not too sure that this was thorough as my preferences were intact after re installing. This worked fine previous to upgrade to leopard. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.upgrade to leopard osx 10.5 2.open firefox 3.change from english (american) to russian input Actual Results: text entered appears as ??????? although the search results return correct information Expected Results: russian text ie. дин
When referring to google search i mean the search input beside the url input not the web page google.
I second that. Also, the titles in russian characters also appear as ???? in tabs and in bookmarks. To reproduce, simply go to http://www.rambler.ru in a tab : - the title looks as: "Rambler: ??????..." instead of "Rambler: информа..." - as well, the tooltip when putting the mouse over the tab looks as "Rambler: ??????..." instead of "Rambler: информа...". To make it short, it seems that except in the browsing area and in the firefox's main window title bar, the russian characters are never rendered correctly. There is exactly the same problem in Thunderbird (russian characters in message listing area appear as "???")
See bug #401803 as well.
Duping this against bug 401803 (same issue, really).
