Right now, if an edit to a staging copy is approved, the staging copy is still around. We would like to keep that staging copy in existence, because it may contain comments as well. This means that viewing all articles in the staging area is no longer a good way of seeing which edits are in need of review. We need a way of know if an article is not in sync with the live version, and way of displaying a list of articles that are not in sync.

I was thinking about this on the way home. What if we told reviewers to monitor all staging copies (for now)?

this ability will be available through an "Out of Sync" category listing in the next upstream sync with Tiki. You can also monitor the "Staging Area" category, yes.

I don't know what you mean by "You can also monitor the "Staging Area" category, yes." We can't use the staging area for this, because it contains all staging copies, regardless if they are the same as the live copies.
Now that the new staging and approval system is on support-stage, you can see the list of article that are not in sync with the live versions here: http://support-stage.mozilla.org/tiki-browse_categories.php?parentId=11&deep=off&type= Please do not remove the "Out of Sync" category. It is required for this to work. See the comment on 402884 for more info. This "Out of Sync" category is not shown in the list of categories to select when editing. It is automatically set when an article is edited, and automatically removed on approval.
Looks good to me. :)
