Dear friends,

I assume that you agree with me that only a few of the millions of users understand the BiDi algorithm and can read a page containing both RTL and LTR text immediatelly as it whas intended by the page designers.

This is a request for an enhancement which should allow a better readability of page containing both RTL and LTR scripts. I assume that a good approach would be to distinguish the change of directionality in a BiDi text by vertically offsetting the text a few pixels.

As it intended as an example the default rendering of the pages should be as it is now.

Thanks for all your efforts in advance!
Best regards Reinhardt [[user:Gangleri]]

note: The wiki pages '&action=credits' are generated automatically. The order of users mentioned there and the directionality of the user names is arbitrary. This is why the (originak) URL
http://nike.users.idler.fi/dev/?title=Main_Page&action=credits
may render differently as seen in the screen dumps.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
please open the original URL
and resize the window that way that
נעבעך גוט משוגע
renders on two lines.

Expected Results:
Will be posted as an attachment.
I think this would be more appropriate for an extension than in core code. Only a small niche of users would want or need something like this, since most users are either comfortable reading RTL text without the extra help, or don't know and don't care.

----

summary: because I used the same PC and the same editor to "adjust" the line breaks / new lines the issue about the broken attachments at the http://landfill.bugzilla.org/gangleri/ is a marginal issue.

----

background:

My goal was to provide a simpler example to demonstrate how line wraping behaves with bidirectional text.

Doing the documentation / the example I remembered one of the two methods to limit the impact of the bidirectional algorithm on variable input text. The « nowrap » trick can not be abused because from a given size of the inclusions inside the « span's » it will break the page design.
