Had some time (again) to scrutinize the calendar folder of the 0.7 release source to re-compress the PNGs. Used PNGGauntlet with brute-force option.

Decreased by 44,224 bytes, >5%. Not *that* significant, but worth considering.

For attachments in comment#6 and comment#7 , I had updated to latest cvs as of 16 Jan 2008, then re-compressed PNGs using PNGGauntlet with brute-force option.

Total size of all PNGs in calendar folder:
Before: 159 files - 677,033 bytes
After: 159 files - 609,730 bytes

67,303 bytes saved, that's >65kB (~10%) decrease.

the above-mentioned attachments were from a trunk cvs checkout though. i'll do up more attachments for the mozilla1.8 branch.
