The today pane does not update after hibernating over the weekend.

The patch for bug 397460 checks for yesterday's date to decide whether the today pane is showing the current day. This is not the case when the system hibernates for two or more nights.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start thunderbird/lightning
2. Set today pane to current date
3. Hibernate computer over 2 or more nights
4. Resume computer
5. Check date displayed on today pane
Actual Results:
Today pane shows last used date

Expected Results:
Today pane shows today's date

Using Thunderbird 2.0.0.6 (20070728) on windows XP, but I expect the same results on other systems.
Berend, this is your code afaik. Can you have a look at the bug report?

Setting wanted0.8- as the main Calendar developers will not devote any time to
this in the 0.8 timeframe. Patches are, of course, always welcome.

No. Bug 401693 is a mac specific version of bug 357079, which has been fixed. This bug is a follow on from that one that is apparent only when hibernating for more than a day (specifically: last used before yesterday)

Ever seen this or have any support reports in recent years?

I don't normally hibernate my computer, but I suppose I could test over a couple of days on Linux.

Don't see anything in my search of m.support.calendar, but the posts I have only go back about 3 years.

We have reports that update of today pane after sleep regressed in Thunderbird/Lightning 68, see e.g. Bug 1589023.

We have reports that update of today pane after sleep regressed in Thunderbird/Lightning 68, see e.g. Bug 1589023.

We do and in Comment 24 of that bug report they say this bug was fixed but the Status is still NEW in this bug report.

Anyway, I've been learning how to put my computer into sleep mode with Thunderbird still open and bring it back up. Will see what happens.

I normally use Mini-Month in the Today Pane with the Mail tab.

Set View > Today Pane > Show Mini-Day in the Mail tab using Thunderbird 68.9.0 on Windows and let it hibernate since Friday 06/19 until today.
Left Thunderbird up and maximized.
Resumed the computer, logged in and the Today Pane showed 06/22.

Did the same steps overnight with Thunderbird 68.8.0 from Ubuntu, 78.0b2 and Daily 79.0a1 on Ubuntu Linux 18.04.4.
After resuming from sleep and logging in the Today Pane still showed 06/21 and updated to 06/22 after a few seconds in Thunderbird 68.8.0.
Both 78.0b2 and 79.0a1 were updated to 06/22. Not sure if there was a delay there.
