Under the planned contributor process, all article edits will go through the staging copy, and require someone to approve/reject the edit. People with reviewer permissions have obviously been deemed trustworthy, so there's no need to review their edits. Edits made by people with reviewer permissions, should be automatically approved.
Even though I'm a reviewer, I feel more comfortable when edits I make or new articles I create are reviewed by someone else. I'm also concerned that non-reviewers won't like that reviewers can do whatever they want without consulting anyone. I was thinking article reviews would work like reviews to patches to Firefox - reviewers can approve things done by others but not things they did themselves.

I suggest that all articles go through the staging copy. Nevertheless, the reviewer can approve his own edits. It will only be one click more. That way, a contributor who is also a reviewer can choose not to auto-approve.
OK, wontfixing.
