When adding a new bookmark, this is the experience I'd like to have.

1) Double click the empty star to bookmark the site.
2) Choose the dropdown box after tags.
3) See a list of tags generated automagically from the keywords meta tags on the site.
4) Check the keywords that I want to tag the site with.

Confirming.
IMO, the summary is still unclear.

Basically, when I use star to automatically bookmark a website and click a second time it lets me add tags. If I have previously tagged websites, the tags show up below.

What I'm suggesting is that when you first star/bookmark a page, it shows each of the meta keywords tags as default unchecked tags. Then you can just check what you like. Under it, of course, would be other tags you have already added.

That way all I would have to do is click the star and the website would suggest keywords I might want to tag them by automatically.

i don't know if this is a bug or not, as pressing CTRL and D to add a bookmark will bring the tagbox up.

on another note, if you press the star once, you wont see the bookmark in the bookmarks menu, but you can see it in smart bookmarks under recently bookmarked.

am not 100% sure if this is related or another bug all together.
If you hit the star once, you've "starred" the page. It will be in the "Unfiled Bookmarks" folder under the root. It doesn't go into the main bookmark menu folder until you hit star again or use control-d to officially bookmark it.

Of course, this has nothing to do with generating tags from meta keywords. :-)
thanks for clearing that up :), maybe its just me but if i find that confusing, am sure other users will. i will say no more on the matter as it has nothing to do with that bug/enhancement.
I think this is better done with a extension (something like http://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/7141), because I think most of the users (including me) do not want to have tag suggestions pulled from the site's contents. People use the tagging system very differently. It seems fine to suggest tags for the site based on tags that the user already has used before, but this is addressed in another bug.
Meta keywords are often search-engine-bait, not necessarily meaningful descriptions of web content. Also see the reasoning in comment #7. -> WONTFIX

Bug 451915 - move Firefox/Places bugs to Firefox/Bookmarks and History. Remove all bugspam from this move by filtering for the string "places-to-b-and-h".

In Thunderbird 3.0b, you do that as follows:
Tools | Message Filters
Make sure the correct account is selected. Click "New"
Conditions: Body contains places-to-b-and-h
Change the action to "Delete Message".
Select "Manually Run" from the dropdown at the top.
Click OK.

Select the filter in the list, make sure "Inbox" is selected at the bottom, and click "Run Now". This should delete all the bugspam. You can then delete the filter.
