User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9b2pre) Gecko/2007111705 Minefield/3.0b2pre Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9b2pre) Gecko/2007111705 Minefield/3.0b2pre If you're viewing a web page containing an animated GIF, and then you open the Page Info dialog and view the animated GIF in the Media tab, the animation restarts back on the web page and plays in synchrony with the same file as shown in the Page Info dialog. I can't say that this would cause any problem, but it seems undesirable for actions performed in Page Info to impact the operation of the original web page. Both branch (2.0.0.9) and trunk (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9b2pre) Gecko/2007111705 Minefield/3.0b2pre). FWIW. It's trivial. Reproducible: Always
Confirmed in 2.0.0.9 and latest trunk - but I can't find a similar report. Nobody noticed it until now. I think it's a bug in the image library though, because reloading the page also reset the image in the page-info dialog. It seems that the animation-state is remembered only once, so when an image is restarted, it will start of instances again. I think it will be changed to WONTFIX though, because this behavior is the one that you want when you have multiple copies of the same animated image on the same page. If the animation-state is only stored once, they will all animate together. If we need to store it image per image, they won't be in sync, and we would need to store much more data.

Yes, but this has funny effects when the images are displayed in different windows. Currently, if I open the same page in two windows and stop animations in one of them (by pressing ESC), the animations stop in both. If I reload one window, images in both start to animate again. Shift-Reloading one window will cause the images in both windows to animate indepedently, e.g. stopping one window will not cause the animations in the other window to stop as well.
