Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9b2pre) Gecko/2007111920 Minefield/3.0b2pre ID:2007111920 regression from bug 387746
Please explain how it is broken. cmd+b wfm on Mac. Is it just the opening via ctl+b that is broken? Or once opened via other means, is it broken in other ways?
nothing displayed in sidebar. in error console, Error: uncaught exception: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x8000ffff (NS_ERROR_UNEXPECTED) [nsINavHistoryService.executeQueries]" nsresult: "0x8000ffff (NS_ERROR_UNEXPECTED)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://browser/content/places/tree.xml :: load :: line 101" data: no]
create new profile and restore bookmarks. now sidebar is back. so this should be "WORKSFORME" ?
My wife ran into this today on her profile. Dietrich, email me and I can send you whatever bits of her profile you need to reproduce.
Summary: Bookmarks sidebar (ctrl+B) is broken. → Bookmarks sidebar (ctrl+B) is broken. Nothing in sidebar.
I have been having the problem of a blank bookmarks sidebar for a while. I tracked it down to the Places Organizer. If I deletethe places folder information (most recent, etc) or other default information from within the organizer, or if I attempt to drag and drop bookmarks in the organizer, then the sidebar goes blank on restarting. If I move bookmarks around or delete from the sidebar all is well.
probably caused by the lack of a root, can be Bug 406089 or other bugs already fixed about the removal of a root. imho, this should be marked as WFM or duped to Bug 406089 that is the most common cause of this now (because one cannot delete a root in the places organizer anymore)
No reports of this in many months, marking WFM.

Bug 451915 - move Firefox/Places bugs to Firefox/Bookmarks and History. Remove all bugspam from this move by filtering for the string "places-to-b-and-h". In Thunderbird 3.0b, you do that as follows: Tools | Message Filters Make sure the correct account is selected. Click "New" Conditions: Body contains places-to-b-and-h Change the action to "Delete Message". Select "Manually Run" from the dropdown at the top. Click OK. Select the filter in the list, make sure "Inbox" is selected at the bottom, and click "Run Now". This should delete all the bugspam. You can then delete the filter. Gerv
