On Places Organizer window (Bookmark Organizer) clicking 
history item make browser hang for a while.
Then it displays all the item (ie, around 8500 records in my case) 
all of a sudden. This happens every time I click history 
while in Places Organizer.

Retrieval speed may be great for that many records.
But it will be better if we can show 10 records first, 
then display/process rest in background.

May be in a .setTimeout("show_next_10_records()",0) loop.

This is similar to bug 385245 which is for History sidebar.

Bug 451915 - move Firefox/Places bugs to Firefox/Bookmarks and History. Remove all bugspam from this move by filtering for the string "places-to-b-and-h".

In Thunderbird 3.0b, you do that as follows:
Tools | Message Filters
Make sure the correct account is selected. Click "New"
Conditions: Body   contains   places-to-b-and-h
Change the action to "Delete Message".
Select "Manually Run" from the dropdown at the top.
Click OK.

Select the filter in the list, make sure "Inbox" is selected at the bottom, and click "Run Now". This should delete all the bugspam. You can then delete the filter.
