The page-snapshot code I wrote used non-quartz surfaces, which means it doesn't render any cocoa widgets (and presumably would have other exciting issues). Either I'm stupid, or the APIs for the quartz surface improved significantly since I first wrote the code, because using a quartz surface is actually easier (I can't remember if the issue I had was making a quartz surface, or getting data out, but both are currently easy). I haven't actually tried any real measured tests, but in playing with Tabsposé using this code it Definitely Feels Snappier (tm).
